In the year plus he's been with AEW, Kevin Knight has ascended up the promotion's ranks very quickly, to the point many, including AEW owner Tony Khan, consider him to be a future top star. Perhaps the biggest sign of AEW's belief in Knight is that they put him in the main event of AEW Redemption in late July, where he challenged Kenny Omega for the AEW Men's World Championship. In an interview with "WRESTHINGS," Knight opened up about the match, which he believes shows that AEW trusts him, not just with be able to handle a main event level match, but to be a quality/safe opponent for Omega, who was one month away from headlining All In against Will Ospreay."Tony Khan has given me a platform, given me an opportunity," Knight said. "And like I said, I've had a lot of luck when those opportunities have met the proper preparation. The fact that they trust me with the platform, they trusted me to do a main event against...not 'The Cleaner' Kenny Omega. This is, like, later in his career, his body is beat up and everything. So I've got to take care of him, while also giving off a great performance. The fact that they trust me with it is amazing."Knight, who entered the Omega match as TNT Champion, remained in a high profile afterward, continuing his feud with one-time friend Darby Allin. Their rivalry culminated in a wild Falls Count Anywhere match at All In, involving Knight's Don Callis Family stablemates Brian Cage and Jake Doyle, Steven Borden, and Sting.
