EmailPrintRENTON, Wash. -- Seattle Seahawks running back Zach Charbonnet will miss at least the first four games of the season after remaining on the Physically Unable to Perform list Sunday.Charbonnet, Seattle's co-starter in 2025, began training camp on PUP while working his way back from knee surgery. Speaking with reporters after the 6 p.m. ET deadline for NFL teams to trim their rosters to 53 players, Seahawks general manager John Schneider said there was no consideration to taking Charbonnet off PUP to begin the season.However, all indications are that his rehab has gone well. Charbonnet tore the ACL in his left knee in the divisional round of the playoffs in January, then had surgery in February. He was seen running in a straight line on adjacent practice fields under the watch of Seahawks trainers early in training camp.Charbonnet will be not be eligible to play until the Seahawks host the San Francisco 49ers in Week 5. However, a change to the PUP rules this year means he can begin practicing as early as Week 3.While Charbonnet is out, rookie first-round pick Jadarian Price is expected to lead Seattle's backfield, which also has George Holani and Emanuel Wilson.In another notable roster move Sunday, the Seahawks released cornerback Trevon Diggs, though Schneider said they would like to bring him back. As a vested veteran, Diggs is not subject to waivers. That means the Seahawks can sign him to their practice squad as early as Monday without the risk of another team claiming him.Diggs made the Pro Bowl in 2021 and '22 with the Dallas Cowboys, who waived him late last season. The Seahawks signed Diggs on Aug. 19 to a one-year, minimum-salary deal that includes $2 million in incentives with the hope that he can eventually become an option to serve as their No. 3 cornerback.After not playing in Seattle's second preseason game, Diggs played the first three defensive series Friday night against the Kansas City Chiefs. He missed a tackle on the opening drive, whiffing on tight end Travis Kelce, then intercepted Garrett Nussmeier on the next possession."He came in a little bit late," Schneider said of Diggs' arrival. "He's kind of just getting going. He's just kinda just getting ramped up, as you saw the other night, just getting his legs under him. But he's confident and we're excited to get him going and see how far he can take this thing. He's really bought into the culture and the guys and the staff and [defensive backs coach Karl Scott] and [defensive assistant Neiko Thorpe] and those guys, so it's been pretty cool to see. He's a great guy, too."The Seahawks signed cornerback Terrion Arnold on Saturday. They had agreed to a one-year, minimum-salary deal with the former Detroit Lions first-round pick earlier in August, but they decided to wait to have him sign it until after the preseason once they learned he would not be able to play in either of the final two games.Diggs, who's facing eight felony charges in Florida, will be placed on the commissioner exempt list while the league looks into his legal matter. He will be paid while on the exempt list and can attend meetings, but he can't practice or play.
