Newcastle struck twice in the second half to condemn Spurs to a second defeat in a row in the league.Despite the boost that came midweek with confirming the signings of Svio and Omar Marmoush, along with progressing to the next round of the Carabao Cup, Spurs fell to defeat at home.It marked the first time they have lost at home under Roberto De Zerbi -- who joined the club last March -- but continues a wretched run of poor home form. Spurs won only three league games at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last season and were unable to get off to a winning start here this time.It was a cagey affair for the most part, with neither team really coming out on top in the first half. But Anthony Elanga broke the deadlock in the 62nd minute as the ball nestled into the net off of the inside of the post following his strike. That was Elanga's second goal in as many games -- he also scored in the Magpies' Premier League opener against Liverpool last weekend.Ten minutes later, Yoane Wissa scored a superb overhead kick from close range to make it 2-0. Spurs had no reply and slipped to a second defeat in the Premier League.Despite the result, Spurs were at least able to take away a major positive in that Mohammed Kudus finally made his long-awaited return. Kudus had not played for Spurs since January, but he came on after Elanga's goal in this game and Spurs fans will be hoping he is fit enough to start their next match -- against Nottingham Forest.A number of Spurs' big-money signings were on display here, including Mateus Fernandes, Sandro Tonali, Jan Paul Van Hecke and Marmoush. Savio, however, did not make the squad and De Zerbi confirmed he was struggling with "muscle fatigue" after his midweek exploits in the Carabao Cup.Newcastle had a bruising summer, with the exits of Bruno Guimar�es, Tonali and Anthony Gordon, but they were clinical in the second half of this match and punished Spurs.In their first two league games, Spurs have conceded five goals and scored none.
