EmailPrintOpen Extended ReactionsIn a move to aid a running back room that's been impacted by injuries during training camp, the New Orleans Saints acquired Zamir White in a trade that sent veteran linebacker Deion Jones to the San Francisco 49ers, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter on Sunday night.White, 26, had just signed with San Francisco earlier this month after four seasons with the Raiders.The move provides New Orleans with some depth in the backfield with veteran running back Alvin Kamara expected to be sidelined for at least the next month due to a sprained MCL he suffered last week.The Saints have offseason acquisition Travis Etienne Jr already in the backfield, as well as Devin Neal, Kendre Miller, Ty Chandler and CJ Donaldson. Another back, Audric Estime, also is expected to miss a few weeks with an ankle injury.White was expendable in San Francisco because the 49ers have welcomed back running backs Christian McCaffrey (tightness), Kaelon Black (adductor) and Jordan James (rib) from injury in the past week.Jones, meanwhile, had just signed a one-year deal with the Saints earlier this month after spending the last two seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, where he was on and off the practice squad and was used as a reserve linebacker and special teams player.He was the Atlanta Falcons' second-round pick in 2016 and spent time with the Carolina Panthers and Cleveland Browns. He started 83 games for the Falcons over six seasons and made the Pro Bowl in 2017.He'll now reunite with Raheem Morris, the Niners' defensive coordinator whom he spent time with in Atlanta.
