The new Fantasy Premier League season is almost here, and while most managers are building their squads around the usual premium names, there could be plenty of value in looking beyond the obvious picks. Finding the right differential early can give your team an advantage, particularly if the player combines low ownership with strong underlying numbers, favourable fixtures or a secure role. From a potential Newcastle penalty taker to an exciting Bournemouth attacker, we have picked out five players who could make a fast start to the campaign. These players may not be completely unknown, but they are currently being overlooked by a large section of the FPL community.Table of ContentsJustin KluivertWilliam OsulaLuka VuskovicAlexander IsakDango OuattaraJustin KluivertPrice: 6.0mOwnership: 1.1%Position: MidfielderFixtures: MCI (A), EVE (H), NEW (A)Bournemouths attack could become one of the most exciting in FPL under Marco Rose, whose previous teams consistently scored plenty of goals. His Salzburg side averaged 2.36 goals per game, while Dortmund managed 2.30 and Leipzig 2.03. Bournemouth also showed their attacking potential in pre-season by scoring 10 against Genoa, with Justin Kluivert claiming a hat-trick.The Dutchman is particularly appealing because he appears to be on penalties, has a proven record from the spot and remains relatively low-owned. Kluivert may be going under the radar, but with regular starts and penalty duties, he has the potential to become a very smart differential.William OsulaPrice: 6.0mOwnership: 1.3%Position: ForwardFixtures: LIV (H), TOT (A), BOU (H)William Osula is emerging as one of the most intriguing budget forwards in FPL. According to local reports, he is in line to start as Newcastles number nine and could also become the clubs designated penalty taker. That is especially appealing after Osula finished last season with seven goals in his final eight starts. His opening schedule adds to the excitement: only three of Newcastles first 10 fixtures are against last seasons top 10, all at home, with back-to-back matches against promoted sides Hull and Coventry in Gameweeks 5 and 6.Luka VuskovicPrice: 5.0mOwnership: 2.6%Position: DefenderFixtures: AVL (H), CHE (A), LEE (H)Vuskovic could be one of the new seasons standout DEFCON gems, but his appeal goes beyond defensive returns. The centre-back has already started for a strong Brighton side and impressed during 45 minutes against Roma, recording six DEFCON points in that time. He also found himself on the end of a couple of Pascal Gro corners, hinting at genuine attacking potential. In the Bundesliga, Vuskovic averaged 65% DEFCON rate and 12.1 DEFCON per 90. His attacking numbers are equally encouraging, with six goals in 28 matches an excellent return for a centre-back and a major boost to his FPL potential.Alexander IsakPrice: 9.0mOwnership: 13.6%Position: ForwardFixtures: NEW (A), NFO (H), IPS (A)Alexander Isak may not be a true differential, but his ownership remains relatively low among engaged FPL managers, largely because of his 9.0m price tag. It is an awkward amount to find in the budget, particularly when many managers are prioritising Erling Haaland and Bruno Fernandes. A team containing all three is probably unrealistic, but choosing Isak over one of those premiums is a strategy that interests me.Liverpool should provide him with plenty of attacking opportunities, while his proven Premier League record suggests he is capable of another 20-goal campaign. At that price, Isak offers genuine upside for managers willing to back him.Dango OuattaraPrice: 6.5mOwnership: 1.4%Position: MidfielderFixtures: TOT (H), LEE (A), SUN (H)Dango Ouattara returns as one of my favourite FPL differentials from last season. With Jaidon Antony, Kevin Schade and Ouattara competing for two positions, there is a genuine rotation concern, but I believe Ouattara can begin the campaign in Brentfords starting XI. Early substitutions remain a slight worry, although his underlying numbers are difficult to ignore.Last season, he posted a higher xG+xA per 90 than Ismaila Sarr, Antoine Semenyo and Morgan Rogers, while ranking sixth among all midfielders for non-penalty xG per 90. He also produced seven goals and eight assists, making Ouattara an exciting option if his minutes are secure. Topics Arsenal F.C. Chelsea F.C. Liverpool F.C. Manchester City F.C.
