The battle over the Los Angeles Lakers ownership has taken another turn, with ESPN insider Shams Charania publicly pushing back against claims made by Jeanie Buss legal team.Buss attorney, Adam Streisand, accused Charania of falsely reporting that all six Buss siblings voted to sell the familys remaining 17.8 percent stake in the Lakers to Josh Kushner and Bob Iger.Charania addressed the accusation during an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show on Tuesday and made it clear he is standing behind his reporting.That letter included my name in it, which I do find interesting, Charania said during an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show on Tuesday. I do have to make it clear, I fully stand by my reporting.Charania specifically disputed how Streisand characterized his original report.The first line of the statement from the lawyer said that I reported that the six Buss siblings voted to sell, Charania said. That key sentence right there is inaccurate.The Buss family trust received enough votes to approve the proposed sale, with at least five of the six siblings voting in favor. Four votes were reportedly needed to trigger the provision that would allow the stake to be sold, while Jeanie did not participate in the vote.The dispute now centers around whether that vote actually gives Jeanies siblings the power to sell the familys remaining stake.Streisand argues the family trust and a 2017 court ruling require the co-trustees approval and enough ownership must be retained for Jeanie to remain the Lakers controlling governor.The situation comes after Mark Walter agreed to sell the Lakers to Kushner and Iger at a record $12.5 billion valuation.
