EmailPrintOpen Extended ReactionsThe Cleveland Cavaliers are trading Dennis Schroder and cash to the Charlotte Hornets for Tre Mann, sources told ESPN on Friday.In Schroder, Charlotte picks up an established veteran at point guard who has history with Hornets president Jeff Peterson and coach Charles Lee from his tenure in Atlanta at the start of his career.The Hornets, Cavaliers and Schroder's rep, Mark Bartelstein of Priority Sports, worked for the past couple months on the deal, which also provides Cleveland flexibility to continue pursuing roster moves and tax savings to keep the team well under the second apron.The Cavaliers remain in constant communication with James Harden and his agents on a new two- or three-year contract to return to Cleveland after a midseason trade for him played a role in the team's run to the Eastern Conference finals.Cleveland is also pursuing two forwards in the market -- restricted free agent Peyton Watson and unrestricted free agent Jonathan Kuminga -- which could be aided by the savings from moving Schroder.Schroder played in 70 total games last season -- 40 for Sacramento, 30 for Cleveland -- averaging 10.8 points, 4.9 assists and 2.7 rebounds in 24.2 minutes per game. The veteran ball handler will be joining the 12th NBA franchise as he enters his 14th season in the league.Mann appeared in 53 games last season for the Hornets, averaging 5.5 points, 1.7 rebounds, and 1.6 assists in 12.6 minutes per game.
