Tyler Herro isnt letting questions about his next contract distract him from what he wants to accomplish with the Milwaukee Bucks.The 26-year-old arrived in Milwaukee as part of the blockbuster trade that sent Giannis Antetokounmpo to the Miami Heat, bringing Herro back to the area where he grew up.With only one year remaining on his contract, Herro could become an unrestricted free agent following the 2026-27 season if he doesnt agree to an extension with the Bucks.But thats not where his attention is right now.Im not really worried about it right now, Herro said at a youth basketball camp, according to ESPN. Its a new slate for me, for the coaches, really for the organization as a whole. I dont think that needs to be a burden over anyones shoulders.Herro joins a franchise entering a completely new era after moving on from Antetokounmpo and hiring Taylor Jenkins as head coach.Milwaukee finished just 32-50 last season, missing the playoffs for the first time in 10 years. But Herro believes the uncertainty surrounding the Bucks has given the new-look roster even more motivation.I probably have the biggest chip on my shoulder that Ive had in my career, coming to Milwaukee, Herro said. Weve been through a lot. Just being able to come here with a new slate, a brand-new team, a brand-new organization, a brand-new coaching staff. We all have chip on our shoulders. Coach Jenkins himself has a chip on his shoulder, the guys who came in the trade with me. Its not just about me. He has averaged more than 20 points per game in each of his past five seasons and became an All-Star in 2025.Expectations outside Milwaukee may be low following Antetokounmpos departure, but Herro isnt approaching the season that way.Obviously theres going to be people who probably dont think well win many games, but thats the opposite of what were thinking, Herro said.
