The Los Angeles Lakers are continuing their search for perimeter shooting around Luka Doncic, and veteran guard Klay Thompson is reportedly on the radar should he become available, although the Lakers may not be alone in the race.The Miami Heat have also been linked with the four-time NBA champion as they look to add another elite shooter alongside Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bam Adebayo, according to The Athletics Christian Clark.Clark reported that Miami has been frequently mentioned as a potential destination for Dallas Mavericks guard Klay Thompson.He added that the Heat could pursue the veteran through a buyout by using their remaining mid-level exception to strengthen their roster.A return to Southern California is also believed to appeal to Thompson, giving the Lakers another reason to monitor the situation.Thompson, however, would also welcome a return to Los Angeles, where he spent part of his childhood and still owns a home, Ryan Anderson of the New York Post wrote.While Los Angeles has not been directly connected to trade talks with Dallas, Thompson would address one of the teams biggest needs.The Lakers have reshaped their roster around Doncic and remain in the market for reliable floor spacing. The franchise is also reportedly pursuing Jonathan Kuminga in a potential sign-and-trade, although the Minnesota Timberwolves have emerged as a legitimate contender for the young forward on a one-year deal, according to the report.There are still significant hurdles before Thompson could hit free agency.Dallas has explored Thompsons trade market without finding a deal, Anderson reported.
