Former NBA champion Lamar Odom has reached a resolution in his DUI case, but hell need to meet a series of court-ordered requirements over the coming months to avoid a misdemeanor conviction.The case stems from an incident on Jan. 17, when Nevada State Police stopped Odom after he was allegedly driving more than 100 mph in a 65 mph zone. Officers claimed they detected the smell of marijuana and reported that Odom did not pass field sobriety testing.Odom pleaded no contest to one misdemeanor count of driving under the influence of alcohol and/or a controlled or prohibited substance during a hearing in Las Vegas on Tuesday, according to The California Post. As part of the agreement, prosecutors dropped the speeding and improper lane change charges that had also been filed against the former Los Angeles Lakers forward.The plea deal gives Odom an opportunity to have the DUI charge reduced to reckless driving, provided he successfully completes several conditions over the next three months. Those requirements include attending DUI school, completing a victim impact panel, performing 67 hours of community service, paying a $1,000 fine and staying out of further legal trouble.Court records reviewed by The California Post also outline the consequences if Odom fails to comply.Officials wrote in the court records that if Odom picks up a new DUI during this case, or is arrested or cited for Driving with a Suspended/Revoked License, he will be sentenced to 180 days in jail.Odoms attorney, Kevin Coburn, believes the agreement was an appropriate outcome.I think it was a fair resolution given the facts of the case, Coburn told Las Vegas television station KSNV.Related Article: Carmelo Anthony Reveals He & LeBron Almost Teamed Up in Their PrimesThe former NBA star, who played in the league from 1999 through 2013 and won two championships with the Lakers, previously revealed that the arrest became a turning point in his life.
