EmailPrintOpen Extended ReactionsFree agent center Kristaps Porzingis has agreed to a two-year, $40 million contract to return to the Golden State Warriors through 2027-28, agent Jeff Schwartz of Excel Sports Management told ESPN's Shams Charania. The deal includes a player option in the second season and likely prohibits Golden State from using the full non-taxpayer mid-level exception this summer, according to ESPN's Bobby Marks.Porzingis appeared in 15 games for the Warriors after they acquired the center from Atlanta at the trade deadline, averaging 16.1 points and 5.3 rebounds in 23.7 minutes per game.Porzingis has missed a large chunk of games in recent seasons due to an illness dating back to February 2025 when he was on the Celtics. Boston's team doctors diagnosed him with ostural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS), an autonomic condition that can dramatically increase heart rate and cause dizziness and fatigue.Porzingis played in just 42 games that season for Boston and was traded twice the following year, first to Atlanta and then to Golden State. After a brief debut for the Warriors in February, Porzingis didn't play again until March 7. He told reporters after that game he was feeling healthy again.Porzingis had his best game for Golden State shortly after that, scoring 30 points to go along with four assists, three blocks and two steals in a win over the Wizards. At 7-foot-2, Porzingis boasts the rare combination of shot-blocking ability with prolific 3-point shooting for a big man. In 10 years in the NBA, Porzingis averages 19.5 points and 1.8 blocks while shooting 36.4% on 5.2 3-point attempts per game.
