Smalley started off slowly, bogeying four of the front nine holes, but surged back, birdieing five of the back nine.He's in a solid spot, but a huge number of golfers are within striking distance. Jon Rahm, Ludvig berg, Matti Schmid, Nick Taylor and Aaron Rai are all tied for second two strokes back, while Rory McIlroy, Xander Schauffele, Patrick Reed and Maverick McNealy are three back.
