AJ Styles isnt leaving much room for hope when it comes to one dream match fans have talked about for years because he says a showdown with Kenny Omega is simply never going to happen. Styles shared the ring with some of the biggest names of his era, including Bryan Danielson, John Cena, and Samoa Joe, but one matchup that always stayed on fans wish lists was a one-on-one clash with Omega. The two crossed paths early in their careers back in 2006 and later shared ties through Bullet Club, but they never got the singles match many hoped for. Speaking on his Phenomenally Retro podcast, Styles opened up about the missed opportunity and made it clear that timing and life got in the way. After reflecting on the possibility of facing Omega at some point, Styles admitted he would have welcomed the chance but believes that moment has passed for good. Styles didnt stop there. He doubled down on the reality of the situation and made it clear he doesnt expect the match to ever take place no matter how much fans may still want it. While the two never faced off in a singles bout, they did share the ring during NJPW New Year Dash 2016. That moment became memorable for a different reason, as Omega turned on Styles and took over as the new leader of Bullet Club, setting Omega on a new path in his career. Today, Omega remains active in AEW, while Styles officially retired in January, effectively closing the door on what many considered a dream match between two of the most influential wrestlers of their generation.
