WWE Hall of Famer Jimmy Valiant stepped into the ring one more time over the weekend, taking part in what was billed as his final match after a career that stretches back more than six decades. Valiant competed at the NAWA promotions Boogies Last Dance event in Lancaster, South Carolina, where fans gathered to watch the legendary performer close out his in-ring run. At 83 years old, Valiant teamed with Magnet Man and Moonshine Express in an eight-man tag team match that served as the centerpiece of the farewell moment. The veteran trio picked up the victory in the match, defeating VSP and Deon Johnson in what was promoted as Valiants last bout inside the squared circle. Valiants career dates all the way back to 1964, when he made his debut after being trained by Verne Gagne. Over the years, he became a well-known figure across multiple territories, including a run in the WWWF as part of The Valiant Brothers. He later gained recognition through feuds with Jerry Lawler in Memphis and Paul Jones during his time in Jim Crockett Promotions. Despite stepping away from full-time competition years ago, Valiant remained active on independent shows across the South and continued giving back to the business through training. He still operates a wrestling school in Shawsville, Virginia, which has produced talent including Hangman Adam Page. This wasnt technically the first time Valiant stepped away from the ring. He previously had what was billed as a retirement match at WrestleReunion 1 in January 2005, teaming with Roddy Piper and Jimmy Snuka. However, he returned to action the following year and remained active on the independent scene, with his last match prior to this weekend taking place in 2023. Even with this latest match being advertised as his final one, Valiant isnt stepping away from wrestling entirely. He is still scheduled to appear at upcoming events, including this Sundays Memphis Wrestling television taping and additional appearances later this summer, such as TMart Promotions The Gathering event in Charlotte, North Carolina.
