For months, there had been talk of a multi-person match involving MJF, but those plans have now been scrapped. As Self Made Pro revealed, AEW had been building toward a bigger multi-man scenario before deciding to change direction. Instead, AEW is pivoting to a singles match, with MJF now set to go one-on-one with Darby Allin in a bout tied to the title picture. The report also noted that the match wont be straightforward, as theres already a stipulation planned to raise the stakes as the title match will have a notable stipulation. On top of that, MJF isnt waiting until the pay-per-view to get back into the mix. Hes also set to compete on AEW Dynamite this week, where hell face Kevin Knight for the TNT Championship, keeping him active in the title scene right away. That means even after dropping the AEW World Title, MJF is still being positioned as a central figure across multiple storylines at the same time. AEW shifted the plan, moved away from the multi-man match, and kept MJF in a top spot anyway, between a TNT Title match on Dynamite and a major singles bout at Double or Nothing, hes not going anywhere.
