However, WWE immediately complicated that outcome by announcing Cody Rhodes would also receive a championship opportunity, raising serious questions about the companys long-term plan for the WrestleMania main event. Bryan Alvarez pointed out via Wrestling Observer Radio that the booking strongly suggests WWE is building toward a bigger match involving multiple top stars instead of a straightforward singles title defense. Dave Meltzer agreed and explained that WWEs current storyline direction makes it difficult to leave key players out of the title picture. Based on how the main event scene has developed, he believes WrestleMania will likely feature at least three or four competitors battling for the championship. Meltzer then broke down why Cody Rhodes, Randy Orton, and Drew McIntyre are all likely to be included in the WrestleMania title match, given their roles in WWEs main event scene. The inclusion of Jacob Fatu would further raise the stakes and reflect WWEs effort to elevate him into the companys top tier. At the same time, Meltzer noted that WWE is unlikely to overcrowd the match, as adding too many competitors would weaken its importance.
