AEW newcomer Jake Doyles breakout run hit a major setback but theres finally some positive news on his recovery. Doyle suffered a torn biceps during the January 28, 2026 episode of AEW Dynamite while competing in an AEW World Tag Team Championship match. Now, according to Fightful Select, he has successfully undergone surgery to repair the injury. The injury happened during a heated tag team title bout that saw Doyle and Mark Davis challenge FTR. In the middle of the match, Doyle took an apron DDT from Cash Wheeler while holding onto the top rope and thats when the damage reportedly occurred. Bryan Alvarez detailed how quickly the situation unfolded on Wrestling Observer Radio. Sean Ross Sapp added that Doyle confirmed the severity himself. Dave Meltzer then explained just how serious a torn biceps can be for an in-ring performer. He also compared it to a similar injury suffered by Drew McIntyre years ago. Doyle had only just begun his AEW run and was quickly inserted into the Don Callis Family storyline and the tag team title scene. The injury immediately halted that push, but a successful surgery is at least a step in the right direction. Recovery from a biceps tear can take several months, meaning fans may not see Doyle back in an AEW ring until later this year. For a talent who had just started building momentum, timing couldnt have been worse but the road to a comeback officially begins now. What do you think AEW should do while Jake Doyle recovers? Do you see him returning stronger than ever once hes cleared? Drop your thoughts below and let us know. G Add as a preferred source on Google
