The Seattle Mariners are nearing a deal to acquire infielder/outfielder Brendan Donovan from the St. Louis Cardinals as part of a three-way trade that also includes Tampa Bay Rays, sources told ESPN's Jeff Passan.
Donovan, 29, batted a career high .287 with 10 home runs and 50 RBIs in 118 games while slashing .353/.422/.775. He also led the team in both doubles (32) and WAR (2.7).
A first-time All-Star last season, Donovan brings a versatile impact bat to Seattle in a deal that had been considered for weeks, sources said.
