Tommaso Ciampa is wasting no time laying the groundwork for life after WWE.
In an update following Ciampas official WWE departure announcement, two new trademark filings submitted to the United States Patent and Trademark Office suggest that the former NXT Champion is preparing to reintroduce a familiar side of himself to fansone that predates his time under the WWE banner.
Filed under serial numbers 99606768 and 99606774, Ciampa (real name Tommaso Whitney) has officially trademarked the terms Psycho Killer and Psycho King. These names arent just vanity filingsthey span three distinct business categories, clearly indicating a full-on rebrand is underway:
- Merchandise: Shirts, sweatshirts, hats, socks, bandanas, and collectible trading cards
- Printed Materials: Posters, postcards, stickers, and more
- Entertainment Services: Wrestling performances, live appearances, media interviews, and TV segments
The term Psycho Killer is already known to longtime fans as a nickname Ciampa used during his early independent wrestling run, often paired with the iconic Talking Heads track. The newly filed Psycho King appears to be a fresh evolution of that personapossibly representing a modernized, more marketable character for the post-WWE landscape.
This legal move comes just a day after Ciampa confirmed on January 21, 2026, via Instagram that his contract with WWE is ending and that hes officially open for outside bookings for the first time in over a decade. He wrote:
Ciampas last televised WWE appearance was on December 19, 2025, where he and Johnny Gargano lost to Ilja Dragunov and Carmelo Hayes. His exit statement was emotional, respectful, and clearly not framed by bitternessbut its now obvious he was already mapping his next chapter.
With new trademarks in place and his post-WWE identity forming, Tommaso Ciampa looks ready to return to his rootsjust with a decade of top-level experience behind him. Whether its Psycho Killer, Psycho King, or something in between, Ciampas next act is already in motion.
