If youve been wondering why AEW hasnt announced a second video game despite their expanding roster, youre not aloneand now we have some insight into why that sequel hasnt materialized.
During a recent Fightful Select Q&A, Sean Ross Sapp was asked whether AEW had plans for another console release following Fight Forever. While AEW does own the engine that powered the game, Sapp revealed theres no current follow-up in developmentand there are a few key reasons for that.
While Fight Forever generated attention early, it also suffered from a long, drawn-out hype cycle that didnt help the game upon release. Thats a mistake Sapp believes AEW is looking to avoid next time around.
Sapp even pitched alternative ideas internally, suggesting that AEW would be better off going in a more niche direction next time.
He compared the concept to something AJ Styles once pitched for TNA over a decade agoindicating that a lower-budget, more creative wrestling sim might make more sense for AEW moving forward.
At the moment, theres no official follow-up to Fight Forever in the worksat least not publicly. But if AEW is planning something, fans can expect a lot less talk and a more low-key rollout next time.
