WWE has seen a few stars compete during the show who werent signed to the company. It is rare, but it happened on SmackDown this week.
The January 16 episode of WWE SmackDown went down in the OVO Arena Wembley in London, England. This was a big show on Friday, and we had full spoilers of the entire broadcast.
This week on SmackDown, Carmelo Hayes put his United States Title on the line. His challenger was actually current X-Division Champion Leon Slater from TNA Wrestling.
During the blue brands third hour this week, Carmelo Hayes came out in London to defend the United States Title. This was an open challenge, which meant anyone could accept the challenge. Then Leon Slater came out to a huge pop in London.
Carmelo Hayes seemed happy about Leon Slater coming out. After all, he wanted to face the best that the world has to offer. Then the youngest X-Division Champion in history started, quite possibly, the biggest match of his career.
This match stretched through a commercial break, and fans chanted the entire time, as fans were more behind Leon Slater than Hayes. There were several near falls as the 21-year-old X-Division Champion fought hard against Carmelo Hayes, but he was not able to win the title.
Leon Slater is from the UK, Bradford, England to be exact, but he found a ton of fame in TNA Wrestling. As X-Division Champion, he is certainly getting a big opportunity to promote his home company in the WWE spotlight.
