Ric Flairs Cameo controversy may have fans fuming, but Jay Lethal isnt surprised because according to him, Flair being drunk during videos is just business as usual.
On the January 14, 2026 episode of the What Happened When podcast, Lethal addressed the situation head-on and confirmed that Flair is often intoxicated while recording personal messages and no, he doesnt think thats a problem.
This comes after weeks of backlash against The Nature Boy, sparked by multiple one-star reviews from furious customers who accused him of slurring names, misreading notes, and acting blasted during their expensive video shoutouts. One fan claimed they paid $600 for a message to their dad Buff, but Flair called him Barf instead. Another said Flair told a groom not to get married in a wedding Cameo that cost nearly a grand.
Lethal, however, brushed off the criticism, arguing that fans who hire Ric Flair should know exactly what theyre getting and made it clear that he actually liked Ric Flairs response in that cameo.
Lethals comments followed Ric Flairs January 12 tweet responding to the backlash, in which he offered a refund through his legal team for at least one disappointed customer:
So far, its unclear if additional refunds will be issued or if Flair will continue offering videos with his signature unpredictability. But if you ask Jay Lethal, that unpredictability is the selling point.
