The Miz is pulling back the curtain on one of the most talked-about promos of the modern era, and his take on it is not what most fans would expect.
During his in-depth interview with Chris Van Vliet, the former WWE Champion revisited the infamous Talking Smack segment with Daniel Bryan the one that went viral, blurred reality and storyline, and instantly shifted how many people viewed his legacy on the microphone. Miz explained that the moment wasnt some carefully rehearsed masterpiece. It came from real frustration.
At the time, Miz was the Intercontinental Champion and had just been told he would be working the dark match instead of appearing on SmackDown. Instead of accepting it quietly, he personally asked to be added to Talking Smack that night. What followed was not planned to become history but it did. He admitted the emotion that poured out during the exchange wasnt controlled or calculated. It overwhelmed him.
That rawness is exactly why the promo resonated so deeply. Fans still cite it as one of the most authentic, emotionally intense segments WWE has produced in years. But Miz doesnt see it that way. When the conversation turned to how often that segment is praised, he made it clear that he doesnt enjoy revisiting it at all.
Miz explained that the reason he dislikes watching it back is because of where he was mentally at the time. He felt overlooked, disrespected, and angry despite holding a title he grew up idolizing. That moment didnt feel like a career achievement to him it felt like a breaking point that just happened to be captured on camera.
Ironically, that breaking point changed everything. After the segment exploded online, Talking Smacks viewership spiked, Miz was immediately positioned more prominently on television, and his reputation as one of the best talkers of his generation became undeniable.
Its one of those rare wrestling moments where reality and performance collided in real time and the performer himself still carries the weight of it.
What do you think was The Miz vs. Daniel Bryan on Talking Smack the greatest promo moment of the modern era, or is there another segment that tops it? Drop your thoughts and join the conversation.
