Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr delivered some of the strongest criticism yet of the US federal governments response to the fatal shooting of Renee Nicole Good.

Kerr addressed the aftermath of Goods death, a 37-year-old woman who was shot and killed by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent on a residential street in Minneapolis, speaking before Golden States matchup against the Sacramento Kings at Chase Center.

Video footage and eyewitness accounts have fueled nationwide protests and intensified scrutiny of federal immigration enforcement tactics.

Im glad that the Timberwolves recognized her life and the tragic nature of her death, Kerr said. Its shameful, really, that in our country we can have law enforcement officers who commit murder and seemingly get away with it.

Its shameful that the government can come out and lie about what happened when theres video and witnesses who have all come out and disputed what the government is saying. So, very demoralizing, devastating to lose anyones life, especially in that manner. So its terrible, terribly sad for her family, and for her, and that city, and Im glad the Timberwolves came out and expressed that sadness.

Kerrs comments were echoed days later by Milwaukee Bucks head coach Doc Rivers, who spoke candidly during a pregame press conference ahead of his teams clash with the Los Angeles Lakers.

I dont think it has to be an athlete, Sports Bible journalist Luke Davies. I dont think it has to be a celebrity. I think everyday people, all of us, should speak up if we think somethings morally wrong, Rivers said. What happened in Minnesota was a straight-up murder, in my opinion. And its awful. This lady was probably trying to go home, and she didnt make it home, and thats really sad.
