CM Punk may have left RAW as WWE World Heavyweight Championbut a nasty face-first landing couldve landed him in concussion protocol.
On the January 6 edition of Wrestling Observer Live, Bryan Alvarez revealed that someone from RAW had been placed in WWEs concussion protocol. While he didnt confirm a name, he made it very clear who he thought it might be.
Instead, Alvarez pointed to CM Punk, who had a rough landing during a tope suicida attempt in the nights main event. Punk didnt get caught on the dive and instead crashed straight to the floor.
He added that the Second City Saint didnt seem totally there afterwards, despite finishing the match:
Kairi Sane was also mentioned as a possible concern, but Punks landing was by far the scariest moment of the night.
Alvarez clarified that concussion protocol doesnt necessarily mean a confirmed concussion WWE takes precautions when a wrestler takes a hard hit like that.
And now we know what Punk himself thought about the match. The morning after RAW, Punk appeared on Fox 5 New York, visibly bruised up and still reeling from his battle with Bron Breakker. The interview aired after RAWs Netflix anniversary special at the Barclays Center, which featured wild interference from The Vision, a table spot, and chaotic brawling with Penta, Rey Mysterio, and Dragon Lee.
When the hosts noted how rough he looked, Punk didnt sugarcoat anything as he said he didnt know what its like to feel like a real human being.
But it was when they pointed out his bruised ear that Punk summed it all up in one line: Yeah. That that happens. Last night I wrestled a maniacal meathead that was trying to kill me.
As of now, WWE has not officially commented on Punks medical status, but judging by his comments in the post-RAW interview, fans might not have anything to worry about.
