Iga Swiatek may not have as many titles as she would have preferred in 2025, but highlights she still considers her season "a success" because it featured some "unexpected" triumphs.
Between 2022 and 2024, the Polish tennis star won at least five titles per season and captured a total of 19 titles during that period.
In the first part of 2025, Swiatek struggled with her confidence in the latter stages of tournaments, and even suffered her first French Open loss since 2021.
Entering Wimbledon, Swiatek had been without a title in 13 months, and she wasn't really given much of a chance to see her negative streak end at The Championships. But exactly that happened after the world No. 2 dropped just one set in seven matches played and registered an astonishing 6-0 6-0 final win over Amanda Anisimova.

A month later, Swiatek also made a breakthrough in Cincinnati and won the American WTA 1000 tournament for the first time in her career. Then in September, came a triumph in her WTA 500 Seoul debut.
During an appearance on TVP Sport, the 24-year-old was asked if winning only three titles in 2025 could be viewed as a drop in her results.
Swiatek: This year I won tournaments that were last on my list in terms of probability
"I can read it in different ways. I can read it in the sense that there is indeed less of it, and regret that I didn't win more. Wonder if I'm doing everything right. But I can also look at it from the perspective that, for example, this year I won tournaments that were last on my list in terms of probability... Meaning Wimbledon and Cincinnati," the former world No. 1 said.

"These were always very demanding tournaments for me, where the circumstances didn't fully suit me regarding the surface and conditions. So, on the other hand, these successes will stay with me forever, and I think in a season that includes a victory at Wimbledon, you can't say it's unsuccessful."
In one of her earlier interviews, Swiatek said that winning Wimbledon alone was enough for her to consider her season a huge success.
In January, Swiatek will try to win the Australian Open and complete a Career Grand Slam.
