Emma Navarro is set for full action leading up to the Australian Open after signing up to return to the WTA 500 tournament in Adelaide.

Navarro, ranked at No. 15 in the world, made her Adelaide debut earlier this year. The American had a first-round bye as a seeded player and defeated Ekaterina Alexandrova in her opening matchbefore losing to Liudmila Samsonova in the quarterfinal. Still, it prepared the 24-year-old well for the Australian Open since she went on to make her first quarterfinal at Melbourne Park before losing to Iga Swiatek.

When Navarro returns to Adelaide, she will face some tough competition as the likes of Madison Keys, Jessica Pegula, Mirra Andreeva, Belinda Bencic and Paula Badosa have also confirmed their participation. The tournament is slated to take place the week before the Australian Open, between January 12-17.

Navarro will play three tournaments in January

Before signing up for Adelaide, Navarro was confirmed for the WTA 250 tournament in Auckland, which is scheduled for January 05-11. For the 24-year-old American, it will be her second appearance at the tournament. Previously, she reached the Auckland semifinal in 2024.

Emma is another high-quality player who has supported our tournament in the past, and we are very grateful that she will return again. Like several young players previously, Emma has worked exceedingly hard to rise near the top of the world rankings. She has an excellent all-round game and is noted for her exceptional work ethic. We always take delight in the progress of players who have supported us at the ASB Classic and then risen to the top in womens tennis as Emma achieved in 2024," Auckland tournament director Nicolas Lamperin said in a statement.

Navarro will certainly hope to find some momentum and rhythm early on in Auckland and Adelaide, and enter the Australian Open well prepared.
