Saturday Nights Main Event finally went down in Washington, DC. The show kicked off with an amazing contest where two champions battled it out.
John Cena promised that his final night in WWE would feature up-and-coming talent from NXT. That led to the NXT Champion getting a match against WWE Undisputed World Champion Cody Rhodes. This match was initially going to be Cody vs Ricky Saints, which would have been a great match for those two close friends, but Oba won the title back at Deadline.
After a bit of a test of strength, fans were chanting for Oba Femi, and he used that momentum to send Cody plummeting to the ground with a thunderous power move. He followed that up by taking Cody to the woodshed with a few more moves before blocking a powerslam to nail one of his own.
The American Nightmare was able to hit a Cody Cutter for a near fall, and the match kept going. Oba was sent to the floor, and then he nailed Cody in the head with an elbow off a dive attempt. Then Cody put Oba on the other side of the ring and actually hit his dive. Suddenly, Oba Femi jumped in the ring after Cody and hit a spinebuster off the ropes for a two count.
The two continued on the outside, where Oba sent Cody over the announce table. Cody was cut on the ear in the process, and blood poured down his face. Then Drew McIntyre jumped in the ring and beat Cody Rhodes down. The bell sounded and a DQ was called. Oba Femi jumped up, and he didnt like McIntyres interference. He pulled Drew off Cody and he shoved him down before Rhodes nailed a Cody Cutter. Then Oba Femi nailed a chokeslam on Drew before he rolled out of the ring. That run-in wasnt worth it at all for the Scottish Psychopath.
We will have to see what happens for Oba Femi in WWE. He is poised to be a huge presence whenever his main roster call-up goes down. Cody Rhodes may very well be looking for The Ruler so they can have a rematch.
