WWE isnt wasting any time turning up the heat on John Cenas farewell matchand now GUNTHER has added a personal message that makes things very clear.
On the December 5, 2025 episode of SmackDown, GUNTHER defeated LA Knight in the finals of the Last Time Is Now tournament. The victory earned him the honor of facing Cena in his final WWE match at Saturday Nights Main Event on December 13 in Washington, D.C. But two days later, WWE released unseen post-match footage that made things feel even more personal.
In the clip, GUNTHER is shown walking up the ramp after his hard-fought win. He pauses, looks directly into the camera, and delivers a warning aimed straight at Cena.
The message wasnt subtleit was direct, menacing, and full of purpose. With the Intercontinental Title no longer in play after Cena dropped it to Dominik Mysterio at Survivor Series: WarGames, the focus has shifted entirely to legacy, pride, and submission. GUNTHER doesnt just want to beat Cenahe wants to make him tap out in his final match.
The December 5 main event match between GUNTHER and LA Knight had fans on edge. Knight delivered a burning hammer and even hit an Attitude AdjustmentCenas own finisherfor a near fall. GUNTHER, however, absorbed the offense and eventually wore Knight down with a brutal string of elbow strikes, a sleeper hold, and finally a crossface that forced LA Knight to tap out.
Before reaching the finals, LA Knight had taken out Jey Uso, while GUNTHER defeated Solo Sikoa in the semifinal round. The entire tournament was built to decide Cenas last opponentand now, the Ring General has made it crystal clear what kind of end he has planned.
