David Otunga is telling alland one of the most explosive revelations involves John Cena and the man who would later become Bray Wyatt. According to Otunga, a match gone wrong between Cena and then-rookie Husky Harris resulted in Cena using his backstage influence to get Harris sent back to WWE developmental.
The incident happened during a tag team match where Otunga was ringside. Harris was in the ring with Cena when he allegedly poked the WWE megastar in the eyesomething Otunga says wasnt even confirmed.
When the match ended, things only escalated backstage. Otunga says Cena lost it behind the curtain and took the situation straight to management.
FCW, or Florida Championship Wrestling, was WWEs developmental territory at the time. According to Otunga, Husky Harris and Michael McGillicutty (Curtis Axel) were both pulled from the road after the incidentchanging the trajectory of Harriss career. But that move may have led to something even greater.
Otunga also noted that Cena seemed to take pride in what happened, as if he had a hand in creating the Bray Wyatt characterdespite the demotion coming from a negative reaction.
And this wasnt a one-off situation. Otunga brought up Baron Corbins appearance on Chris Van Vliets podcast, where Corbin admitted he was terrified after accidentally poking Cena in the eye during a matchbecause he had heard the Husky Harris story. Otunga confirmed it wasnt just a locker room myth.
