Nick Wayne has been off AEW TV since announcing an injury on the August 19th edition of Dynamite, which forced him to pull out of his scheduled Forbidden Door tag match. Fans have been wondering ever since when Wayne will be backand now weve finally got some clarity from the top.
During the ROH Final Battle media call, AEW President Tony Khan addressed Waynes status, revealing that the original timeline for his recovery had to be changed. There were expectations hed be back in time for Final Battle, and had they known sooner that he wouldnt be cleared, an interim ROH TV Champion wouldve likely been introduced to keep momentum going.
But heres the good news: according to Khan, Nick Wayne is now getting close to a return. That means fans may not have to wait much longer to see one of AEWs youngest breakout stars back in the ring.
Waynes return could shake up the AEW midcard and ROH title scene, especially considering how much hype he had going as the ROH TV Champion. Whether he picks up where he left off or starts something new, its clear AEW is keeping the door open for his imminent return.
