WWE fans were caught off guard this week after discovering that a massive portion of the companys content library is set to leave Peacock by the end of Decembermonths earlier than most expected.
While the deal between WWE and Peacock was always scheduled to end in 2026, viewers began noticing expiration notices across a wide range of contentincluding the entire WCW and ECW libraries, territory-era footage, and hundreds of classic WWE and WWF events. Now, its confirmed that the transition is happening sooner than originally believed.
This early exit comes as part of the expiration of the five-year agreement between WWE and Peacock, which began in March 2021. That deal brought the full WWE Network library under Peacocks banner for U.S. fans. But with WWE now realigning its media rights and moving Raw to Netflix, SmackDown to USA Network, NXT to The CW, and Premium Live Events to ESPN DTC, the full library is the last remaining piece without a publicly confirmed destination.
Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer confirmed the exit timeline and explained the uncertain future of WWEs video-on-demand history:
Meltzer also advised fans not to wait if they want to catch classic wrestling footage before it vanishesespecially from the territorial days:
Peacock will continue to stream Saturday Nights Main Event under a new deal, but nearly everything elseincluding the deep archive of pay-per-views, documentaries, and regional showswill be removed by December 31, 2025.
If youre hoping to rewatch classic WrestleManias, ECWs rise and fall, or hidden gems from Mid-South, Stampede, or the AWA, the clock is ticking fast.
