CM Punk isnt shy when it comes to speaking his mind, and ahead of WWE Survivor Series: WarGames, the current World Heavyweight Champion made it clear who he thinks deserves the main event slotthe women.
During an appearance on Up & Adams, Punk argued that the Womens WarGames match has all the ingredients necessary to close out the show, even if hes part of the marquee mens match that fans assume will take top billing. That match features Punk, Cody Rhodes, Roman Reigns, and The Usos against Brock Lesnar, Drew McIntyre, Logan Paul, Bron Breakker, and Bronson Reed. Despite the massive star power and championship gold involved, Punk still believes the women should take center stage.
Speaking about his wife AJ Lees return to the ring, Punk didnt hold back his praiseor his preference.
Even with the mens match packed with former and current champions, Punk feels the womens bout can match that intensity and presence. AJ Lee will be teaming with Charlotte Flair, Rhea Ripley, IYO SKY, and Alexa Bliss against Team Nia Jaxwhich includes Becky Lynch, someone who shares a long and personal history with both Punk and AJ. Punk especially pointed to AJ finally getting to settle some old receipts. He also framed the team dynamic in a way only Punk could.
Punks comments werent just about personal pride. They were about spotlighting what he believes is the bigger storyAJ Lees return, a stacked team of fan favorites, and the potential to shake up tradition by giving the main event to the women.
Whether or not WWE pulls the trigger on putting the women last remains to be seen, but Punk has made his vote loud and clear.
