Lorenzo Musetti can be proud of what he has done this season, having definitively achieved the status of top player thanks to a series of top-level results. He shone above all on his beloved red clay, where his performance was inferior only to that of the current world number 1 Carlos Alcaraz.

The Italian star reached the final at the Monte Carlo Masters 1000 and the semifinals in tournaments such as Madrid, Rome and especially Roland Garros, where he was putting Carlitos in serious trouble over the iconic Philippe Chatrier before an injury forced him to retire. He needed some time to regain his certainties after that problem and struggled more than expected in the first part of the summer, but the quarterfinals reached at the US Open gave him confidence in view of the last part of the season.

Musetti can be proud of himself

The talent from Carrara has not been able to lift a trophy even this year by extending his fast, but his 2025 was still embellished by his first career participation in the Nitto ATP Finals in Turin. The world number 8 defeated Alex de Minaur at the Inalpi Arena, but the losses suffered against Taylor Fritz and Carlos Alcaraz condemned him to theelimination in the round robin. Due to fatigue and the birth of his second son Leandro, Musetti decided to skip the Davis Cup Finals in Bologna making the same decision as his compatriot Jannik Sinner.

In a long interview with 'La Repubblica', the Italian ace recounted some details behind his recent rise: "I worked on my behavior on the court and I got help from a psychotherapist, then I stopped the collaboration. I have never chased perfection and I don't like political correctness, I want to stay true to my character. I'm working to improve even more."
