Rory McIlroy this year broke the curse that lasted for years and finally won the Masters at Augusta National. With this victory, the Northern Irish golfer completed the career Grand Slam and one chapter in his career. An additional boost for him was winning the Ryder Cup on US soil, which rounded off one of the best seasons of Rory McIlroy's career.
However, after the Masters, Rory McIlroy played a lot of tournaments, and wearing the green jacket seems to have been a problem for him at times. Namely, Rory McIlroy talked about the green jacket in an interview with the CNBC CEO Council, saying that wherever he traveled he had to wear it, as people were eager to see him in it.
The 36-year-old joked, telling his wife to feel free to punch him if he complained too much about having to wear a green jacket.
Winning the Masters has lived-up to everything I wanted it to be, Rory said.
I think so that its now set in and to most places I travel to now . I was in India and I was in te Middle East the last few weeks and places you travel to play in events the people want to see you in the green jacket.
So you take the green jacket with you. Sometimes though you dont want to wear it. Like you dont want to . but then I said to my wife (Erica) . like I sought of complained about wearing in Abu Dhabi .. and I said to my wife, Erica: If you ever hear me complain about wearing this thing again, like punch me or something (laughter from the audience).
I waited my whole life to wear this and Im complaining about wearing it but yeah, its amazing the fact that you can show it to people.

McIlroy's future
McIlroy knows that this victory has lifted a huge weight off his shoulders, opening the way to more Majors and other tournaments.
It would be impressive if the Northern Irish golfer were to win the Masters again, but he knows how difficult and challenging that task is given the fierce competition.
