Alexander Zverev ended another season without winning a Grand Slam title. It's no secret that the German ace has been chasing this goal since the early years of his career and the curse is continuing, as the rise of two young champions in Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner has further complicated his plans.
The current world number 3 had started 2025 in the best possible way, reaching the final at the Australian Open thanks to an amazing run and finally seemed ready to achieve his biggest goal. The champion from Hamburg did not put in a bad performance against Sinner in the final, but he was literally demolished by the defending champion on the iconic Rod Laver Arena and all his certainties crumbled at that moment.
Sascha struggled to find his best tennis in the following months and the lack of confidence further hindered his path, which is why he asked for help from a coach of enormous experience like Toni Nadal (former coach of 22-time Grand Slam champion Rafa Nadal)after being eliminated immediately at the Wimbledon Championships.

Sascha has not broken the curse
Alexander's level has risen slightly in the second half of this season, but he still did not achieve significant results, disappointing even at the Nitto ATP Finals in Turin (where he had triumphed in 2021).
According to numerous experts and insiders, Zverev is destined to become the strongest player ever to have never lifted a Major trophy.
In a recent interview with 'Clay Tennis', former world number 4 Greg Rusedski said that the German star does not deserve this label: "From my point of view, Marcelo Rios is the best player to have never won a Grand Slam, if we consider that he was also world number 1. I think his case is even more emblematic than Zverev's. The truth is that Marcelo has not had a career long enough to reach this milestone. He had a truly extraordinary talent, he was a great champion, but he never filled this gap."
