AEW is lining up a blockbuster main event for Worlds End on December 27, 2025, and it looks like the AEW World Championship will be on the line in a massive four-way match. According to Self Made Pro, the internal plan as of last week is for Samoa Joe to defend the title against Swerve Strickland, Hangman Adam Page, and a returning MJF.
Speaking during a Self Made session, the source explained that AEWs current creative direction is to bring MJF back late in the build to cash in his Casino Gauntlet contract and insert himself into the match.
The report went on to confirm how MJFs return is expected to factor into the storyline in the coming weeks.
Samoa Joe captured the AEW World Title at Full Gear after defeating Hangman Page, and shortly after the match, Swerve Strickland made his shocking return to confront Joe in front of the crowd. This confrontation set the stage for a new challenger, but the twist with MJF re-entering the fold adds another layer to the title scene.
AEW has been working on creative plans for MJFs return, and this development seems to be part of that strategy. With four major names all colliding in one match, AEW is aiming to end 2025 with a main event that has the potential to shift the companys direction heading into the new year.
Do you think AEW should have MJF reclaim the title, or is it time for Swerve, Hangman, or Joe to close out the year on top? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
