Carlos Alcaraz ended the year at the top of the ATP rankings for the second time in his young career, having finally found that regularity that had been his main weakness in previous seasons. The Spanish star lifted eight trophies in 2025 including two Grand Slam titles to claim one of the most memorable victories in recent tennis history during the Roland Garros final.
The 22-year-old from Murcia was down by two sets and a break against his huge rival Jannik Sinner in the last act of the French Open and also had to cancel three match points in a row, before completing a sensational comeback that allowed him to confirm the title in Paris by writing a page in tennis history.
He also triumphed at the US Open at the end of the summer by playing the best tournament of his career in terms of continuity, as well as taking revenge on Sinner who had dethroned him at the Wimbledon Championships.

The current world No.1 won his last title in 2025 at the Tokyo ATP 500, but he also put in strong performances indoors by reaching the final at the Nitto ATP Finals in Turin for the first time in his career.
Carlitos put defending champion Sinner in serious trouble at the ATP Finals by having chances in both the first and second sets, but the Italian ace was superior to him in the decisive moments and the young Spaniard had a leg injury (which forced him to miss the Davis Cup Finals in Bologna).
In a recent interview with 'Eurosport', Italian star Lorenzo Musetti expressed all his admiration for Alcaraz's game: I have to say the truth is that Carlos has been a step above everyone else for years. And I think its well deserved, I mean, they prove it every time, thats their strength, the beautiful thing about their rivalry is that theyre two completely opposite players.
