Serena Williams reveals she decided to sign up and train for a marathon, but then sustained a leg injury that forced her to halt her preparations and focus on recovering from the issue.
Williams, who celebrated her 44th birthday in September, returned to training earlier this year because she wanted to regain her fitness but also test herself in a half-marathon. But shortly after starting to do cardio, the former 23-time Grand Slam injured her leg. However, the American tennis icon has since recovered from the issue - started doing cardio once again - and since the marathon is slated to take place in February, the former world No. 1 hopes she can still make it.

I sustained an injury in my leg. That was four months ago, maybe five, and I havent really done cardio since. So, Im back at it. The half-marathon I wanted to do is in February; I think I can still make it. I just got to get serious. The only thing Im really good at, like, focus on is tennis, the 44-year-old said on Instagram.
As you probably know, Williams' astonishing tennis career came to and just over three years ago, after the 2022 US Open. Since then, the American tennis legend became a mother for the second time after she and her husband Alexis Ohanian welcomed daughter Adira in 2023.
