Coach Wim Fissette admits that neither he or Iga Swiatek liked to see the world No. 2 losing four sets with a 0-6 scoreline in 2025, but notes they are focusing on the positives from this year and looking to find ways to make the Pole an even better player next season.
If anyone has become known for winning sets with a 6-0 scoreline and handing out bagels, it is Swiatek, who has won numerous sets with such a scoreline since 2022. This year was no different since the reigning Wimbledon champion bageled her rivals 17 times to once again lead the WTA Tour in that department.
But unlike in the previous seasons, Swiatek also lost a couple of sets without collecting a single. It happened for the first time in the Madrid quarterfinal, but the Pole recovered to beat Madison Keys 0-6 6-3 6-2. A month later, Aryna Sabalenka beat the former world No. 1 7-6 (1) 4-6 6-0 in the French Open semifinal. In early October, Emma Navarro upset the Polish tennis star 6-4 4-6 6-0. At the WTA Finals, it happened for the fourth time after Elena Rybakina beat the six-time Grand Slam champion 3-6 6-1 6-0.

As you can notice, Swiatek three times lost a deciding set with 0-6 scoreline in 2025.
Fissette asked if he is worried by Swiatek being bageled three times in a third set this year
"I didn't like it, and of course Iga doesn't like it either. Nobody likes losing like that, but it can happen. For example, the tournament in Beijing took place at a difficult point in the season, when it was definitely not easy to overcome many challenges. We always want to win three-set matches, fight until the last ball. Such things can happen, but at the end of the season, we won't focus on that. We're more focused on looking back at what we achieved in 2025 and figuring out what we can improve on next season, how we can develop," Fissette told sport.pl.

Swiatek emulated a negative record as she became the first player since Flavia Pennetta in 2013 to lose three matches in a single season with a 0-6 third-set scoreline.
