AEW was born out of an idea that pro wrestling fans needed more options on a big level. Tony Khan found The Elite, and the rest was history. AEW provided their wrestlers with a place where they could play their own music, but the booking power is still with Tony Khan.
Since AEWs inception, their talent has had a bit of creative liberty. However, Tony Khan is the man who books the shows. In fact, he is straight-up adamant about keeping that booking power. During a recent Fightful Select update, Sean Ross Sapp addressed questions about whether Khan is stepping back from his booking duties now that the NFL season is underway.
Tony Khan is the main booker and will remain the main booker, Sapp confirmed. He went on to say that Tony has made it very clear, to extreme degrees.
While Khan remains in charge, he is still open to ideas behind the scenes. He went on to say that, Hes got plenty of voices giving him pitches, though. After all, stars like Saraya picked AEW over WWE due to the creative freedom.
Despite his responsibilities with the Jacksonville Jaguars, Khan continues to stay hands-on with AEWs creative direction. This decision may be looked at differently, depending on who you are, but AEW remains a focal point for Tony Khan, especially where the booking is concerned.
