Novak Djokovic reveals his wife Jelena dated a junior player he knew growing up before they met and ultimately started their love story.

Exactly 20 years ago - when Djokovic was at the start of his pro tennis career - he went public with his relationship with Jelena. In 2013, the couple got engaged before tying the knot the following year. They share two kids together as they welcomed son Stefan shortly after getting married, as well as daughter Tara in 2017.

Djokovic: Jelena dated a player who is a friend of mine from the early days

"She used to play tennis but we never met through tennis while she was playing it, but she dated one tennis player that is a friend of mine from the early days. It was funny, because the first time I heard about her was when that friend, who was in the same tennis club as me, played a match in the regional tennis league and we won, an important match," the 38-year-old told Piers Morgan on the British host's Uncensored show.

"He took out his jersey and underneath the jersey he had a white shirt written, Jelena, I love you. This is for you.' And we were like, Oh my god thats so lame, why would you do that? And then, Who is this Jelena? And it was her."

After making an interesting revelation, Djokovic also shared that after mutual friends introduced him to Jelena in the early 2000s, they knew each "four to five years" before they started talking more intensively. The Serbian tennis giant also declared Jelena his "only serious relationship" and "the true love of my life."

In recent years, 38-year-old Djokovic gave credit to his family numerous times, stating that their support played a major role in him having such a long career and fulfilling all of his tennis goals.
