David Otunga has made it clear that The Rock should only return as the Final Boss if theres an actual story to go along with it.
While speaking on Inside the Ring, David Otunga was asked about The Rocks Final Boss storyline and whether WWE should revisit it. He explained that if the idea ever returns, it has to come back with a real ending. Otherwise, hes fine with letting it go and starting something new whenever The Rock eventually appears again.
Otunga also pointed out that many fans felt the tease of the Final Boss may have hurt WrestleMania, since the build suggested a big payoff that never really happened. The expectation was there, but the moment never happened, which made the whole setup feel like it backfired.
Otungas view is that the concept could still be great, but only if WWE commits to a legitimate story and finishes it properly.
This comes after Cody Rhodes recently stated that the Rocks Final Boss character isnt finished just yet. Nonetheless, the Rocks future in WWE remains uncertain, and as of now, it looks unlikely that the Final Boss will return to WWE television anytime soon. Therefore, fans will have to wait and see if that changes somewhere down the line.
