Elena Rybakina didn't only make the headlines for winning the WTA Finals as the 26-year-old deliberately snubbed WTA CEO Portia Archer for a photo following her Riyadh triumph.

On Saturday, Rybakina collected her maiden title at the season-ending tournament after beating Aryna Sabalenka 6-3 7-6 (0). Since it's one of the biggest tournaments in women's tennis, WTA CEO Archer was also in the house. And when the time came for a traditional photo with the finalists, the Kazakh tennis star went far away from Archer.

Of course, it is not hard to understand why it happened, knowing that Rybakina was extremely frustrated with the WTA after they suspended her coach Stefano Vukov earlier this year for alleged abuse.

The Rybakina-Vukov & WTA drama

After Rybakina ditched Vukov as her coach in August 2024 and returned him to her team in January 2025, the WTA revealed that there was an ongoing investigation against the Croatian coach.

"I can only say, and I said it already before, that he never mistreated me, it was never anything like that. Stefano is re-joining the team because I know the person for six years and there's a lot of things we can do outside of the court too," the Kazakh tennis star said at the time.

While Rybakina was adamant that Vukov didn't do anything wrong, the WTA still proceeded to ban him from coaching for a year. Two months ago, the Croatian won his appeal and he has since returned to the Kazakh's team.
