Coco Gauff declared her 2025 season "a long one" before giving a verdict on it by acknowledging that it featured "disappointments" but also "more positives."
On Thursday, Gauff - who went 1-1 through her opening two WTA Finals matches - lost to Aryna Sabalenka. By going 1-2 in the Round Robin stage, the world No. 3 saw her title defense in Riyadh end earlier than she anticipated.
Gauff started the year on a high note after she led the United States to winning the United Cup in Australia. In late May and early June, the American put up a major run to lift her maiden French Open title and overall her second Grand Slam. Last month, the 21-year-old captured her 10th career title after triumphing at the WTA 1000 tournament in Wuhan.

Through the grass season and the North American hard-court swing, Gauff struggled a lot with her game as she went just 0-2 on grass and also didn't impress on hard courts during the summer. She only made the round-of-16 at the US Open.
Overall, the top-ranked American female tennis player went 48-16 in 2025.
Gauff: My 2025 was filled with some disappointments but mainly positives
"My 2025 season is officially over and it was a longggg one. I played my first match of this season December 29th, 2024 and my last match of the season November 6th, 2025," the world No. 3 noted at the start of her message.
"It was filled with some disappointments but mainly positives and when I look back at it, I feel proud of all the things I accomplished. I love this sport and I am grateful for all of its ups and downs. Very few feelings come close to the euphoria you feel when you are living in a dream come true or a prayer come to fruition and I am eternally grateful to God for these experiences and the opportunity to feel this feeling constantly."

Gauff concluded her message by saying that she plans to give herself some rest before returning "to the grind."
