Alexander Zverev will compete at the ATP Finals for the eighth time in the previous nine years. The two-time champion of the premium event faces Jannik Sinner, Ben Shelton and Lorenzo Musetti or Felix Auger-Aliassime in the round-robin stage.

While there are no easy matches at this event, Alexander would prefer to compete in Carlos Alcaraz's group and avoid Jannik Sinner. In fact, he would have loved to avoid both Carlos and Jannik, which is not possible.

Zverev praised Sinner and his indoor streak. He described the defending champion as the top favorite at this year's edition. He also mentioned his two victories over Alcaraz in the previous two seasons.

In 2023, the German bested the Spaniard 6-7, 6-3, 6-4 in two and a half hours. Alexander saved five of six break points and delivered three breaks to emerge at the top.

Last year, the former champion scored a tight 7-6, 6-4 triumph in just under two hours. The more experienced player denied both break points and kept the pressure on the other side.

Zverev created eight break points and seized one in the second set to emerge at the top. World no. 3 arrives in Turin following an injury setback at the Paris Masters.

He injured his ankle against Daniil Medvedev and took one game against Jannik Sinner in the semi-final. However, the 28-year-old looks ready to embrace the ATP FInals campaign and challenge the world's best players.

"I would have preferred to be in Carlos' group than in Jannik's. Honestly, it does not really matter. Well, it does, but obviously, they are the world's best players.

On this indoor hard surface, and I think the courts are faster than in Paris, Jannik is the strongest player. I think Carlos would agree. Anyone can beat anyone, but the last two years I was in the same group as Carlos and won both times.

I did not have a preference for either of them. In fact, I expected them both to be in the same group," Alexander Zverev said.
