Roman Reigns may be WWEs Tribal Chief today, but long before he ruled the ring, he dominated the football field at Georgia Tech.
The former defensive tackle started three seasons for the Yellow Jackets and even captained the team during his senior year. Despite his success in professional wrestling, Reigns has remained connected to his college roots and continues to support the program.
Georgia Tech Athletic Director Ryan Alpert recently spoke about Romans ongoing involvement during an interview with 680 The Fan. According to Alpert, the WWE megastar still makes time for his alma mater, even if his packed schedule doesnt always allow him to appear in person.
Alpert praised Reigns for his loyalty to Georgia Tech, noting that he has used his platform to speak positively about the team on The Pat McAfee Show. The school even reached out to him about serving as honorary captain for their upcoming game against Georgiabut his WWE obligations got in the way.
Georgia Tech is set to face off against Georgia on November 28, one day before WWE Survivor Series takes place at Petco Park in San Diego. Reigns is currently advertised for that event, leaving him unable to attend the rivalry game.
Even with his full-time wrestling commitments, its clear Roman hasnt forgotten where he came from. His connection to Georgia Tech remains strong, and his continued support only adds to his reputation as one of the most respected names in sports entertainment.
