Novak Djokovic may have been one of the first players to secure an ATP Finals spot, but John Isner doesn't think the 38-year-old Serb will participate at this year's season-ending tournament.

After taking a one-month break following his US Open semifinal outing, Djokovic returned to action at the Shanghai Masters earlier this monthand made the semifinal. With his deep Shanghai run, the Serb also joined Carlos Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner, and Alexander Zverev in making the ATP Finals. By doing so, the 38-year-old made tennis history as he is now tied with Roger Federer for the most qualifications for the prestigious season-ending tournament.

Throughout his career, Djokovic has had massive success at the ATP Finals and he is a record seven-time champion at the season-ending tournament. But last year, the Serbian tennis giant opted not to play in Turin.

Isner: I hope I'm wrong but I don't think Djokovic will play the ATP Finals

I dont think so. And I hope Im wrong. I think everyone would love to see him in Turin. The fact that hes already qualified playing the schedule that hes played this year is just completely absurd. At 38 years old, it needs mentioning again. But I dont think hes playing. He didnt play last year. Pulled out of Paris. I think hes just gearing up for 2026," Isner said on the Nothing Major Show.

Sam Querrey, who also hosts the podcast, disagreed with Isner.

"I think hes playing. Shanghai seemed like he was in a good mood. Maybe he goes to Turin and thinks like, Oh, maybe I could beat Sinner and Alcaraz in two out of three. I think hes going to play but you never know," 2017 Wimbledon semifinalist Querrey said.

Djokovic noted several times this year that at this stage of his career, the Grand Slams are his No. 1 priority.
