J.J. Spaun is a golfer who has absolutely excelled this year and has thus caught the attention of US captain Keegan Bradley. The U.S. captain had many dilemmas whether to include Spaun on the Ryder Cup roster or not, aware of how much he can help this team. Ultimately, he showed his trust in him.
However, Bradley's decision, such as not choosing Spaun to play in either of the two Foursomes series, did not cause positive reactions. Keegan nevertheless decided to let Spaun show his full brilliance in the Fourballs format.
J.J. Spaun openly said in an interview with Trey Wing that the US captain's decision surprised him. It seems that the U.S. captain placed more emphasis on experience than on quality, but Spaun clearly believes that such a decision was a bit bizarre.

Maybe a little bit (surprised), he said.
I wasnt sure what format I would start in. I talked to Keegan a few weeks prior, and he was just adamant about having a pretty veteran-heavy lineup going out in the first match, which was foursomes.
So, it had nothing to do with how I was playing or what equipment I played. It was more of he wanted to put guys out there first who have been in that arena, have had success, and have had the experience. Getting my feet wet in fourballs, which is probably an easier format, I think, was appropriate."
Bradley's decision
Keegan Bradley had his own visions that probably did not coincide with the expectations of the public, but in the end everyone looks at the result, it is clear that he could probably have made different decisions.

After a poor day on Friday, J.J. was expected to play in Saturday's Foursomes series.
The European team, which was excellent from day one to day two, despite a slight slump, dominated the matches.
While few of the U.S. players excelled in this edition, it seems the PGA of America will make key changes with the goal of winning the next edition in two years.
