Each golfer has a strong ambition and goals that they set before the start of the season, and Billy Horschel is no exception. The experienced American golfer had serious ambitions heading into the 2024 season, hoping to achieve multiple victories on the PGA Tour.

A playoff win in September at the BMW PGA Championship gave the famous golfer some optimism. He also had a strong performance at The Open, eventually finishing in a tie for second place with Justin Rose at Royal Troon.

However, as is well known in the world of sports, injuries are an integral part of an athletes career, and Horschel began to feel pain in his right hip.

In an interview with Sports Illustrated, he stressed that he still believed that 2025 would be the year in which he would win a major and do great things for the Ryder Cup.

Injuries stood in the way of his success, and Horschel knew that he had to rest and come back ready.

I felt this was going to be the year I get over the hump and make the Ryder Cup team, win a major, check some things off of my career goals," Horschel said.

"And I wasn't playing bad but look back and swing-wise, it was a little bit of a struggle and I didn't know why.

"And the Monday after Hilton Head I woke up with a sudden pain in my hip that I had never felt before."

The ambition of a great golfer is to be a part of the team in the future, aware that he has a few more years of great golf ahead of him.

Horschel was not happy with the US team's performance at Bethpage Black, believing they could have achieved a better result.

As the main reason for the failure, he notes that the PGA of America needs to change its plans and system, stressing that the Europeans had a much better system that helped them win the trophy on American soil this year.
